OBI Welcomes Three New Board Members for FY12

Millersville, MD – Opportunity Builders, Inc. (OBI) has named Matt Lehmann, Gregory Lynch and Michael A. Schonfeld to its 2011-2012 Board of Directors.
Matt Lehmann is the Vice President and Managing Partner of Moran Insurance who has had a passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. He joins OBI’s board with the goal of helping OBI grow its special events fund raising efforts. As stated by Matt, “OBI is an amazing organization that gives individuals with developmental disabilities a place to come and learn skills that allow them to become productive members of society.”
OBI Named NonProfit of the Year by AAACCC

Millersville, MD – Opportunity Builders, Inc (OBI) was recently named Non-Profit of the Year by the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce at its 2010 Comcast Business Hall of Fame Dinner. The chamber recognized OBI’s efforts for its work in providing vocational training and employment services to over 400 adults with developmental disabilities as well as its strong business connection to the community.
Sidus Group Donates Website Design and Hosting to OBI

Friendship Civitan Club Partners with H.O.P.E

Millersville, MD –Recently, the Friendship Civitan Club partnered with H.O.P.E. (He Opens Paths for Everyone) to provide baskets filled with basic hygiene and cleaning supplies. In 2001 OBI partnered with the Civitan Club of Glen Burnie to form the Friendship Civitan Club. This club enables OBI program participants to give back to their community and participate in service projects like the one for H.O.P.E. which helps people in need. Through this project, club members were able to give back to their community and support another local non-profit.

Ned Carey, the Deputy Executive Director of the Maryland Aviation Administration, joins OBI’s board having served on numerous boards including as the Anne Arundel County Public School Board of Education’s President for 2 terms.
OBI Executive Director to be Honored

Callahan, Executive Director of Opportunity Builders, Inc. will be honored as part of the celebration at DisABILITY Awareness Day at the Annapolis. Ms. Callahan has been named the 2009 DAD honoree for her leadership and commitment to individuals with disabilities. As part of the ceremony, the OBI Bell Ringers which is made up of nearly 40 individuals served by OBI will be performing.
OBI Moves into Its Own Building and Grand Opening Date Announced

Millersville, MD - Opportunity Builders, Inc (OBI) is thrilled to announce that it will be opening for business in its new building at 8855 Veterans Highway in Millersville on Wednesday, January 21, 2009. This move is the culmination of a 2+ year project expanding the organization’s operations from its leased facility of 31,000 square feet to a 41,000 square foot facility in which OBI owns both the building and the land.

Millersville, MD – Opportunity Builders, Inc (OBI) was recently honored as the Non-Profit of the Year at the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce’s 2008 Celebrate Community Awards Dinner. The chamber recognized OBI’s efforts for its work in providing vocational training and employment services to over 300 adults with developmental disabilities as well as its strong business connection to the community. OBI has 170 individuals working in its warehouse and 160 clients working at more than 60 local businesses.
